1.0 PROPOSAL

Proposals are requested from local and international (Individuals, Companies, Partnerships, Associations, Joint Ventures, Trusts, Syndicates, Societies) bidders within the meat packing industry (slaughtering, processing, packaging and distribution) to invest and operate the multi-species red meat abattoir and its supporting assets within the BUAN Meat Industry Training Institute (MITI) Complex for a period of ten (10) years. The business model is a structured Public Private Partnership between the successful bidder and the investment company of the University, namely BUAN Enterprises (Pty) Ltd.

Method of Procurement: Open International Bidding.

2.0 BACKGROUND

MITI was established as an institute that provides specialised meat inspection training for novice veterinarians and veterinary paraprofessionals in compliance to international standards. MITI is mandated to provide both long term (Diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes) as well as short term courses. MITI conducts applied research in animal food origin (especially meat), meat products and meat related biproducts such as wet hides. Thematic areas of research include food safety and quality, veterinary public health, animal health, animal welfare, hides and skins as well as environmental protection.

The closing date and time for receipt of proposals is 2nd February 2021 at 1100 hours in Office 2 Block 304 Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Content Farm, Sebele, Gaborone.

Parts of each proposal offer communicated on paper shall be submitted as original proposal document, plus three duplicate copies. All the documents should be securely bound.
